KWENN // DEEP SPACE / ISD DAUNTLESS > BRIDGE

The blue swirls of hyperspace suddenly came to an end as the Vanquish and Dauntless exited hyperspace some distance away from Kwenn Station.

"Shields up. Initiate ComScan. Stand by comlink channel," Hale remarked, "let's see if Governor Devereaux is still in command of this place..."

"Channel open, m'lord," replied an enlisted communications specialist.

< Governor Devereaux, this is Lord Admiral Lucidius Hale of the Imperial Remnant, Tempest Squadron. Are you able to receive us? >

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / EXECUTIVE SUITE > DEVEREAUX'S BEDROOM

A flashing red light accompanied by a steady beep began emanating from the ComLink panel beside Devereaux's bed. Unfortunately, he was passed out drunk, naked, alongside two twi'lek women, who were also passed out.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / OPS CONTROL ROOM > COMSCAN STATION

Lietuenant Brask shook his head. He knew the Governor wasn't going to answer the communique, and he knew why. He decided to pick up the link himself.

< Yes, Lord Admiral, apologies. This is Lieutenant Brask. The Governor is... indisposed presently. However, I have standing orders to allow all Star Destroyers into the main berthing docks. Proceed to Docks 1 and 2 respectively. I shall see you shortly in the personnel transit center. >

Brask brushed off his uniform and waved his hand to get a contingent of Stormtroopers and enlisted personnel to come with him.

KWENN // DEEP SPACE / ISD DAUNTLESS > BRIDGE

< Roger that, Lieutenant. >

"I don't like the sound of that situation," replied Captain Juliana Tarkin.

Hale nodded, "Not at all, but we need to check it out. Alert all departments, we're making our way in."

The engines of the Star Destroyers roared and the Vanquish and Dauntless slowly moved their way to Kwenn Station. Meanwhile, Hale and Tarkin and their security and staff detachment proceeded to the external turbolift link station.

KWENN STATION // DOCK 1 > TURBOLIFT 1 > PERSONNEL TRANSIT CENTER

Hale and Tarkin exited the turbolift and were welcomed by Lieutenant Brask.

"My lord, welcome to Kwenn Station..." said Brask, with a slight bow and hand gesture.

Hale looked around slowly. There were loitering aliens and humanoids everywhere. The place was dirty. "Yes... thank you Lieutenant. If you don't mind, I shall speak with the Governor now. Take me to him. I have urgent matters which require his immediate attention."

Brask loosend his collar, "M'lord, uhhh..."

"Be a good chap, Brask. Tempest Squadron could use cooperative young officers like yourself who are willing to do their duties..."

Brask stiffened up, "Yes m'lord. Right this way."

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / EXECUTIVE SUITE > FRONT DOOR

Brask rang the door alert for the Executive Suite. After an awkward few minutes of no response, he pushed a few more buttons. "Priority security clearance, Brask, code THX 1138." The door then opened. Everyone walked in.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / EXECUTIVE SUITE > DEVEREAUX'S BEDROOM

The sight was something to behold, that was for sure.

Hale cleared his throat rather loudly. The twi'lek women stirred and came to, seeing that the room was full of Imperial officers, they covered their bosom and ran out of the room.

Hale looked over to Tarkin, who rolled her eyes.

"Is this what the great Kwenn Station has amounted to? Hmm?" Hale asked. "This is ridiculous."

As everyone stood there, Devereaux slowly churned and woke up.

"Ahhh... the Governor has decided to join us..." remarked Tarkin.

Devereaux's senses came to him, but he was arrogant. He stood up, still naked. "WHO. ARE. YOU? HOW DARE YOU DISTURB ME IN MY SLUMBER! IN MY OWN CHAMBERS! AND DAMMIT, WHERE ARE OOTALA AND VULA?"

"No doubt putting some clothes on, as you should be doing," replied Tarkin.

Devereaux didn't care. "Wait... I know you.... you're the famous Tarkin girl, right? Grand-daddy got blown up in the Death Star so the Emperor gave you anything you wanted, is that right? Fancy seeing you beside Lord Admiral Hale, no doubt playing the role of consort and wench."

Tarkin stepped up and slapped him.

"Oh you like it rough... me too..." Devereaux smirked, then he raised his hand to strike Tarkin back, but she blocked the blow, and then kicked him in the crotch. Devereaux fell to the floor in fetal position.

"Enough!" yelled Hale. "Governor Devereaux, Tempest Squadron is hereby putting Kwenn Station on notice, followed by a full inspection of your command records. You have one hour to meet me in the Ops Control Room."

Hale didn't wait for a response. He left the room with everyone else. Devereaux began laughing, because he knew Hale had no idea what he was walking into...

KWENN // DEEP SPACE /

A lone Lambda shuttle exited hyperspace and made its way to Kwenn Station. Its passenger was Princess Misada, who was now the defunct leader of Dathomir. While her dream of an independent and isolationist Dathomir would be realized, it would be realized without her.

KWENN // KWENN STATION / ISD DAUNTLESS > BRIDGE

"Sir, new ComScan detection. Shuttle craft, marked VIP, bearing the Lord Admiral's clearance codes," reported an enlisted specialist.

"Very well," replied the ComScan officer. "That must be the Princess. Have her proceed to Docking Bay 1-1-3-8, and inform the crew we'll be dispatching Army Troopers for escort. The Lord Admiral is expecting her shortly."

"Roger that, sir..." within a few seconds a red light began flashing. "Incoming transmission.... source is coded as coming from the Terrors of the Imperium."

"Open the line."

< Captain Ywiru to Lord Admiral Hale. On behalf of Admiral Krell, I am honored to accept your invitation to discuss terms of a trade agreement at Kwenn Station. I remind you of our own invitation to discuss terms of a Memorandum of Understanding at a neutral location and look forward to your response. Signed, Terrors of the Imperium. >

"Let's make sure that gets to the Lord Admiral. Have Misada's escort hand delivery it personally."

"Roger that, sir."

KWENN // KWENN STATION / DROP-OFF DOCKING > BAY 1-1-3-8

As the shuttle touched down within Kwenn station, it wasn't long before Princess Misada walked off, and was soon greeted by a squad of Army Troopers from Tempest Squadron. Just a few moments later, the shuttle raised its boarding ramp and took off, and the troopers began walking Misada to Kwenn Station's control room.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / OPS CONTROL ROOM

The whoosh of the automated doors got everyone's attention who were presently standing in the room. Hale, Tarkin, and Devereaux, with their various support personnel. Princess Misada walked in slowly, scanning everything and everyone. While she had been off-world before, she was used to the simple technology native to Dathomir; as opposed to Kwenn Station, a state-of-the-art facility.

"Ahhh... how nice of you to join us, Princess," commented Hale.

She remained silent.

"Princess?" said Devereaux with a raised eye-brow. He walked casually over to her and gripped her hand, smiling, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Governor Trip Devereaux, administrator of this space station." Secretly however, Devereaux already knew of Princess Misada, and was expecting Lady Kalia instead - he made a mental note of this - Kalia's coup must've failed. Interesting.

She withdrew her hand and folded her arms.

"Ahhh, touchy are we?" replied Devereaux, trying now to maintain a facade of ignorance.

Tarkin exhaled in frustration, then came beside Misada, putting her arm around her. "Princess, we are honored you are here, and we welcome you to our inner circle. Dathomir has a seat at the table. Your seat."

"I never wanted a seat, nor a table. Nothing but the independence of my people, which you have now taken from me," replied Misada.

Tarkin chuckled softly. She put on a pretty face, but she lived up to her name. If you got to know her and earn her respect, you got to know Julia; but if you crossed her or questioned her authority, you got to know Tarkin. "Oh, my dear. Dathomir *is* independent. Tempest Squadron is committed to honoring your isolationist ideals. Though you must know that the security we provide your planet comes at a cost. We'll be using your planet as a way-station and depot. Beyond the facilities we've already established, your people's rights will not be violated."

Misada gave Tarkin some side-eye, "talk is cheap, Captain."

Tarkin glared, and her tone became stern, her posh Eriadu accent sharpened even further, "now of course, we could alter the arrangements of our situation. We could impose a draft of your Nightsisters as troops to fill our ranks, our deport them to Kessel as labor for the spice mines and coaxium harvesting... how would you like that?"

Misada lowered her head in submission.

"I thought so," replied Tarkin, now unable to hide her smirk. "Now, Lord Admiral, I believe we had other business to attend to..."

Hale nodded. "Indeed..."

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / OPS CONTROL ROOM

The inspection of the station had not been going well for Devereaux. Not only were there considerable lapses in reporting the comings and goings of the station's visitors, but there were also some peculiar lapses in the station's budgeting and finance. Devereaux was clearly up to something. But it was obscured enough such that a first glance wouldn't reveal anything. Hale needed to spend more time on the station.

"Right, I think we've seen enough for today, Governor. Inspection will pick back up tomorrow morning. You're dismissed," said Hale.

Devereaux sighed, "Finally."

"Well if your affairs were in order, Governor, we wouldn't need to be doing this inspection," replied Tarkin.

"Right... and why exactly of all the stations and bases in the Empire is my station being singled out by YOUR faction? There's more to the Imperial Remnant than just you two. A pair of Star Destroyers might mean something to somebody, but it doesn't mean anything to me. Not when there are more equipped factions out there..."

Tarkin narrowed her gaze, but it was Hale who spoke up, "Governor, we've identified this station as a critical and strategic centerpiece for the future of Tempest Squadron. We need not say more."

Need not say more? thought Devereaux. He knows something. I feel it. "Fine. Let's just make sure you leave my station when the time comes."

"Who said anything about leaving?" retorted Tarkin, smirking. "We've already initiated annexation protocols."

"You've got to be joking..." replied Devereaux. Annexation? This is not going to end well, he thought.

"No," replied Hale, stroking his beard. "We're interested in things far beyond the simple routine usage of Kwenn Station as a mere resupply depot. We're planning on turning this station into a stronghold."

The Governor shook his head and left the room to return to his quarters. Hale, Tarkin, and Misada also left.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / PASSAGEWAY

Walking down the passageway, Hale said "I'll catch up with you tomorrow+9 Julia, I've got a feeling I can get some better answers to our questions by speaking to an old friend..."

Tarkin nodded, "You actually know people here?"

"An old shipmate from when I was the CO of the Carrack Viper, he's the chief engineer of this station now. I think we'll have our meeting at the Officer's Club."

"Good luck with that, sir. Try not to have too much fun catching up," replied Tarkin, laughing.

As Hale split off, Misada and Tarkin kept walking down the passageway, they approached Tarkin's quarters.

"May I speak with you privately, Captain?" asked Misada.

"Of course, come in," she replied, walking into her quarters.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND DECK / VIP QUARTERS > TARKIN'S BEDROOM

Tarkin walked up to the viewport in her room to look out at the starry vista before her. "What is it Princess?" still looking out, her back against Misada.

As the door whoosed close, Misada spoke up. "Captain, the freedom of my people mean everything to me. I did not wish to offend you earlier..."

Tarkin crossed her arms in silence, intrigued.

"I know the way of off-worlders such as yourself. You come, you see, you conquer. Such is your way of things. But you do not know my ways. And so, if you are truly offering me a seat at your table, I want it to be our table, together. If you devote yourself to upholding my ideals, then I will devote myself to upholding yours..."

Tarkin was pleased, Misada was finally learning her place, but in true Tarkin form, she wanted more "...And?"

"...and... I will devote myself to you..." continued Misada. As she finished speaking, Tarkin slowly turned around. With a few slight motions, Misada loosened her clothes and let them fall to the floor. Tarkin gasped as she gazed upon Misada's body, how did she know I was a lesbian? she asked herself. Nothing more needed to be said, for within moments the two embraced as they crawled into bed together...

KWENN STATION // LOWER LEVEL / OFFICER'S CLUB > PRIVATE BOOTH

Hale was sipping a strong whiskey with his old shipmate, Chief Engineer Talchus Nooli. After exchanging some sea stories and reminiscing out old times, Hale finally got around to what he wanted to talk about.

"Tell me, what's happened to this place?" asked Hale.

"Same thing that's happened everywhere Hale, the Empire is out of style. Especially in this part of the galaxy..."

"Hutt Space?"

Talchus nodded. "Things were fine after the Battle of Endor. Honestly. But, it was after the Battle of Jakku that things took a turn for the worse."

"I know the patrols have dropped off significantly, we're taking a look into that..."

"It's not the patrols," replied Talchus, "...I mean, of course patrols helped. But the Empire is no longer a credible threat. This station was built to keep the Hutts in line, and we both know that. The Emperor is dead. No one fears us any more."

Hale nodded. "Well, I've made the necessary arrangements to take over Kwenn Station. We're even developing an operations center here to make sure the Hutts know their place. We're going to reinstitute interdiction and tariffs..."

"That's all well and good. I'm just not sure the Governor is going to like that."

"What do you mean?"

"You saw his girls right? The Twi'Leks?"

"Yeah..."

"Those are slaves, delivered as a gift from Ploonda the Hutt. There are other things of course, like the Klatoonian smugglers who practically use this station as their base of operations. And the fact that there haven't been any serious impounds in months... I could go on...."

"No, no... that's fine. I understand these sorts of reports would've fallen on deaf ears anyhow. It's not like Oversector Outer is a thing any more."

Talchus nodded, "Exactly. It's every man for himself out here."

"Well, that also explains the discrepancies I found in my inspection. If the Governor is laundering credits for the Hutts through this station, then there's no telling how far the corruption goes."

"Let me put it this way... Kwenn Station is 'Imperial' by name only," said Talchus.

Hale shook his head in frustration. "Well, I'm going to need a good man to run this place when my team isn't here. Nobody knows this station better than you. How would you like the Governor's job?"

Talchus lifted his glass. "About time I've gotten a promotion!"

Hale clinked his glass, then took a sip. "It's official then. I'll give you a couple days to sort things out with the Engineering department. After that, I'll take care of Devereaux..."

KWENN STATION // MIDDLE LEVEL / SECURITY > QUARTERDECK

Hale walked into the Security section of the station in order to rouse up some troopers. It was time to apprehend Devereaux. He was greeted by a droid at the front desk, TU-V3 ("Tuvee").

"Greetings, Lord Admiral Hale. How may I be of assistance?"

"I need an ISB security detachment, if there's one available."

"I'm sorry, but the only ISB detachment on the station is Kilo-Sierra-7, and they are currently on patrol. However, Stormtrooper squad Kilo-Sierra-6 and Kilo-Sierra 5 are currently on stand-by. Shall I muster them for you, sir?"

Hale didn't like the idea of using Stormtroopers, because in the event an Imperial officer was to be arrested, the jurisdiction fell to the Imperial Security Bureau. But, at the same time, the whole concept of "protocol" in the Imperial Remnant had become absurd. "Kilo-Sierra-6 will do, thanks."

Within a few minutes, ten Stormtroopers marched onto the Quarterdeck. "Reporting for duty, sir."

"Come with me," replied Hale.

KWENN STATION // COMMAND LEVEL / OPERATIONS CENTER

Hale strutted into the Operations Center command room like he owned the place, which of course he did. His gaze turned upon Devereaux, who was standing over a console with a few officers pointing at random things and uttering station business.

"Governor Trip Devereaux, under the authority vested upon me by the Galactic Empire, which I have carried on through Tempest Squadron, I am hereby annexing Kwenn Station, and assuming command of all of its operations..."

"You can't do this!" yelled Devereaux, slamming his fist onto a console.

"Wrong. Not only are you relieved of duty, but my investigation into your dealings here have compelled me to issue a warrant for your arrest. I'm sure we can sort this out at Security, and if you would come willingly and speak truthfully, leniency will be shown."

Devereaux sighed. "Alright, Lord Admiral," he said, while giving a quick nod to his lieutenant standing beside him. "You give me no choice." As Devereaux gave a slight hand gesture, the Stormtroopers accompanying Hale raised their blaster rifles and pointed them at Hale. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Your forgot that this is my station. My rules. My men."

And this is why I should've kept protocol, Hale thought to himself. ISB wouldn't have done this. Hale raised his hands.

"Hale... my good man... you really have no clue what's going on do you?" asked Devereaux, rhetorically. "Out here, the Hutt Syndicate is the real powerhouse. I'm simply towing the line to keep this slice of the galaxy safe. No different from you. It seems like every officer with the least bit of rank on his sleeve thinks he can take a slice from what's left of the Empire and keep it in his pocket. You think Tempest Squadron is anything special? What about the New Order? Or the Terrors of the Imperium? Or the Imperial Guard? Or the Imperial Legion of Bastion? Or the Imperial High Command, which might I remind you, is 'officially' in charge because they're running Coruscant? Do any of us have any real say anymore?"

Hale sighed. Devereaux did have a point. "How much are the Hutts paying you?"

Devereaux laughed, "oh, you think just because I'm getting kickbacks, I'm suddenly in their pocket? Those slimy bastards can't touch me. They know better."

"Why would they be afraid of you?"

"Oh me? I'm a nobody out here. It's not me they're afraid of. It's Crimson Dawn. And your little stunt at Dathomir unsettled things, in a big way. You see, Lady Kalia had become a top agent in that organization. Now, there's not only a power vacuum, but some plans that were set into motion years ago have now been thrown a curveball."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"Because I am merciful, Lord Hale. I'm willing to give you a way out. Walk away. Leave Kwenn Station to me. Never come back. And leave that bitch Princess Misada here. Crimson Dawn has put a bounty on her head. I'm keen on collecting it..." Devereaux smiled. "In exchange, you get to keep your life and your precious Tempest Squadron."

Hale looked around.

"So, what's it going to be?" asked Devereaux.

Suddenly, the command center went black as the power got cut off. Before Hale could react, he felt a sudden whoosh pressing against his body, which knocked him to the ground. Moments later, a single source of light filled the room, accompanied by a low-frequency hum. It was unmistakably a red lightsaber.

Devereaux panicked, "No, no, no! Not you!" He sprawled to the ground, looking for an alert button. "Kill her!"

The stormtroopers didn't know what to do, but hearing the word 'kill' triggered their training, and they instinctively raised their blasters at the shadowy figure and fired upon her. The blaster bolts were deflected and bounced off the edge of the lightsaber blade as the figure gracefully spun across the floor and began cutting down each stormtrooper one by one. It was a terrible sight to behold...

KWENN STATION // COMMAND LEVEL / OPERATIONS CENTER

Dead stormtroopers littered the floor of the Ops Center. Standing in a corner, half crouched and shriveling, was Devereaux, with a red lightsaber pointed at his chest.

"Wha... what do you want?"

The shadowy figured cocked her head sideways, "you know exactly what the fuck I want."

"I don't have it, I swear," replied Devereaux, trembling.

"Bullshit! I've been tracking the holocron ever since Nal Hutta."

"Harris... the smuggler, Quinton Harris. He passed through here so I could vouch for him. He's gone though... long gone..."

"WHERE IS HE!?" replied the shadowy figure, with some deep vocal fry.

"It's so hard to know where smugglers go these days, gah---" Devereaux's voiced was cut off by a pinch of his throat. The shadowy figure was force choking him and had also force lifted him in the air. "Mm-m-m-mmm... Mandalore! I swear!" he said, gagging. Not to be merciful, the figure continued choking him until he went limp. She then released the choke and let his dead body hit the floor, whilst deactivating her lightsaber.

Removing her hood, she turned around to face Hale and in a softened voice spoke, "I am Jana Sable; and on behalf of my master, Darth Hera, we, the Sisterhood of Imperial Sith, implore you to join us."

Hale folded his arms. "What's so special about this... holocron you're after that needs the involvement of Tempest Squadron?"

"It is the personal holocron of Xim the Despot. It is rumored to contain his vast secrets..."

Hale pondered for a moment. "And what happens if I refuse to join you?"

"My master would be disappointed, but we would proceed with or without you. The Sisterhood desires nothing more than to re-establish the Galactic Empire. Sooner or later, we will be inviting all of the Imperial Remnant factions to join us. To refuse now would... not bode well for your future."

"I'm no skeptic of the power of the Dark Side, but last time I checked it's a Star Destroyer that keeps this galaxy secure, not a lightsaber. Where has this Sisterhood of yours been all this time?"

"We have been biding our time. Searching the galaxy for anything that we could use toward our cause. Unfortunately, Crimson Dawn has forced our hand. We can no longer stand idle and let Xim's Holocron fall into the wrong hands. My master took notice of Tempest Squadron's performance at Dathomir, and she was impressed, which is why we are coming to you now with an open hand," she said, determined.

"If we're going to talk business, then take me to your master..."

Lord Admiral Hale's modernization program for Kwenn station was finally seeing some results: the station internal facilities had finally been overhauled to the point where Tempest Squadron could now use the facility as a Strategic Command Base. It was a glorious day for Tempest Squadron.

KWENN // KWENN STATION /

The ISD Dauntless, ISD Vanquish, and INT Equalizer exited hyperspace near Kwenn Station, ready to begin the next phase of their mission. As various crews took their stations, the ISD Titan formed up alongside the task force and took the lead position in Tempest Squadron's signature slant formation. To the rear of the ISD Dauntless, the ISD Nightmare (commanded by Captain Jamal Harris), VEC Magnificent (commanded by Captain Kirby Jax), and the VEC Excelsior (commanded by Captain Liebur Stanley) rounded out the formation. Tempest Squadron was now at its strongest point since the Battle of Jakku - a seven ship fleet.

ISD DAUNTLESS // BRIDGE /

"This is it," remarked Hale. "Time to resume your post onboard the Vanquish, Admiral."

"I'm still not used to that yet," said Tarkin, smiling.

"Well, my promotion came out of a need to fill a void in the chain of command. It was a field promotion. Yours was earned, and deserved. Remember that."

Tarkin nodded.

"I've noticed you and Misada have been spending some off hours together as well."

Tarkin blushed, "yes... I never would've thought I'd be in the middle of a romance during times like these..."

"Spoils of war, then," replied Hale, jokingly.

"Well my Lord," Tarkin leaned in to whispher, looking over to Darth Hera and the other Sisters, "...try not to over spoil yourself." She then winked and shuffled off quickly, as to not give Hale a chance to respond. It was no bother though, because Hale just shook his head.

Some moments later, Tarkin's shuttle departed the Dauntless and returned to the Vanquish, where she took up her spot on the bridge.

Hale walked over to the HOLONET Comms station, and stepped on a platform, then pushed a button to speak to the entire fleet and project a holo image to all stations.

< Attention Tempest Squadron, this is your commanding officer. It is with great satisfaction that I authorize this next mission as OPERATION THUNDERCLOUD. Tempest Squadron hasn't had a joint task force operation ever since the Battle of Jakku, and so this will serve as a notice to all other governments in the galaxy, friend and foe alike, that we who call ourselves the Imperial Remnant will not go quietly into the night.  We are not a scattered fleet forced to patrol our territories out of desperation, but a renewed fleet that now brings force to the desperate. Let the weak and strong alike see what we have become and say "the Empire yet lives" - and let the name of Tempest Squadron be echoed in the halls of the mighty. SEMPER IMPERIALIS! >

And with that, the entire fleet entered hyperspace... bound for Sriluur.

::A single Lamda-class Shuttle, CIRQ-1, exits hyperspace about 2.25 kilometers away from Kwenn Station.::

Suddenly a crackled voice came in over the com. "Circus-1 to Kwenn Station. TIE escort and hangar landing requested. Captain Ywiru has arrived at the invitation of Lord Admiral Hale. We are here to discuss terms of a trade agreement between Tempest Squadron and Admiral Krell."

Captain Ywiru remained silent as the pilot turned off the com. Would they agree on terms? Or would he return to Krell empty-handed? The hours ahead would involve some tough negotiating, but he was confident a deal could be reached.

(OOC note to Hale -- "CIRCUS-1" was just a placeholder and was never meant to be the actual name of the shuttle. I ended up modifying the post and just calling it CIRQ-1 for lack of a better name. Feel free to delete this OOC post after you've modified yours.)
