Anybody here from the old AOL Star Wars Sim Forum - IGE sim... it ran for a few good years in the early-mid 1990s. Just looking to reconnect with a few old friends...

I remember it but wasn't a member. If you still have the itch, feel free to join our new After Endor sim.
-
I was NIO, who was affiliated with IGE for about five and a half minutes and I was also NASG for a while... so... no, sorry. Always room around here though, and odds are decent that somebody will show up eventually. My original problem, when searching for a reincarnated board, was that I always looked for "Space Wars Sim Forum" since thats what AOL made us change the name to. Maybe if we add that to the board we'll get a few more old timers showing up.

I IGEd very briefly when I first started simming before I FPed for a minute then moved to AE when Lee and Wedge and I forget who else dropped it.
Likely under handle IGE Weller, think it was Triton or some name similar to that whos fleet I was in but never really get deep in to it. Think it was waning at the time.

Heh.. I remember IGE.

Yes the IGE was my first sim! I was commissioned originally under Admiral Darkstel of the Black Armada aka "The Horde". Lt. Damian Lancer, commander of the Modified Frigate Emperor's Wrath. God those were good times... I still keep in touch with IGE Triton, Darkstar, Darkheart, and others. Anyone know where General Cole went? I believe his sn was JudgeDad...
I later had characters in other sims such as Lord Demetrius Kasimir, second in command of the Imperial Royal Guard, as well as Moff Tyrus and General Graklor. Anyone ever know what happened to Emperor Bain or Enroad? or Warlord Ariakas?
I remember you CyStar ;)

Where the hell is IGE Vanguard?
-
I'll echo the "Where is Vanguard?" question.
As "captshetz" on swsf/nasg and leader of the Ashes of the Rebellion, I had the pleasure to be completely pwned by IGE.

Imperial Galactic Empire, sweet memories..
In the begining all imperials suffered trial after trial, candidates came and left, some were died valiantly during the battle, some betrayed and ran to rebels, some were fired, but after a year of hard work and building the empire took shape, the end result was nothing but a piece of art. Â
Through the changes of the leadership, a great brother and sisterhood was born. No matter is on or off the board, we help each other to create a legend, admirals, generals, high ranking officers and newbies, dark jedi or sith, emperor or empress, prince and princesses, moffs and governors, we looked after one another both on chat and the board.
The long and strong operating history of IGE is based on this friendship, "The Empire within", everyone fights for the new order, everyone participates for the battle, every single member of the Imperial Galactic Empire stood still for one cause. To unite the universe!
No one quits, both on and off the board. Tough, and precise training, uncanny team work combined with structured leadership, IGE simply dominated the SWSF Boards and conquered all our enemies. Â
From early 90s to 2000, IGE become a true well oiled machine, and definitely a force to b reckoned with, all because the hard work and dedication of each and every members.

legends never die ;p

How did I know that there would still be some of us kicking around so many years later.... hello all, and I still have a couple of freighters of bbq ewok too
-
Hi Cole, who were you on the old AOL boards?
-
I do not remember the different SN I used, but character was Fabius Tarkin Cole, General.. Field Marshal, something along those lines of the Imperial Marine Corps, then Warlord I believe of the army. Started out under Emperor Bane, then Highlord Cystar.. and a few others over those years.
-
I have no idea why I was thinking about this today, but I was (by the end) Grand Admiral Matthew Pellaeon when George was Emperor, but my best time was as part of the Emperor's Guard for Emperor Bane under Darkstar as a Captain.
Aves recruited me and my SN was CpPellaeon...
Good times and completely random that I was thinking of this. Glad everyone is doing well.
-
Cp! Long live Emperor Pellaeon of the Remnants of the Empire!
I was SMBeast! You and KSingle98 recruited me around the time the RE was re-entering AE I think. Maybe it was AoR. I can't remember. Anyways, good to see you out and about!

If only all these old school peeps would play!
-
Wow... these are a lot of names I haven't seen in a long, long time. I'm glad I got the itch to search for old stuff in Google when I did! This brings back a lot of memories :)
How is everyone doing? I don't suppose anyone has any of the old files or documents left? I'm hoping to put some easter eggs from previous projects I've worked on - including IGE - in my current gaming project (http://flashpoint.intelser.org/). I've already got an "Emperor Ronan I" reigning from 1992-1994 of the Imperial Calendar, but I'd love to throw in some more stuff from the IGE/Dark Realms game.
Oh, and Siege/Goosepop/absdisc - I finally found a copy of "Legend of Galactic Heroes," many many years after you first recommended it to me. That was a great show - thank you for telling me abou it all that time ago :D
-
If only all these old school peeps would play!
Alas, it was a different time. While I believe many people still have a special place in their hearts set aside for the SWSF... Times are different... We're really talking about a shared memory/experience from 20 years ago. Hell, I'm replying to a 6 month old post (but you log in often, so the probability of you reading it is high).
Interestingly enough, it was my contemplation of "playing" SWTOR, that made me actually think of the SWSF. I was sure there would be at least someone who kept a sim forum alive, somewhere on the 'net. I'm glad.
Now I'm forced to go dig through my very old files...
-
Judge, check our SWTOR thread. Several of us are playing and we are trying to put a trooper team together. So far Erasmar and I are active, plus I brought in my cousin. With X and a few more, we could start a guild and call it swsimforum.com so that others will see it in our tag. Maybe draw some attention that way.
-
Oh, dang, I didn't even think of naming the guild along those lines. Good call, Dem.
Also......... I cannot believe I used the word "peeps". LoL
-
Wow, I can't believe I found some old AOL simming folks. I had a sudden urge to look things up last night and was surprised by how little there is out there. I guess the purging of free sites like geocities really crushed any of the non-AOL archives of SWSF/Space Wars simming.
CpPellaeon, I remember your name for sure. I'm sure I recall other screen names if I saw them...but I only really remember Zarrin from AE and AckbarTB (who I believe IRL is Tim Bradshaw).
I was SparqMan back in the SWSF/Space Wars days. AE was my primary (go GI!), but I played in NHU, Legacy of the Force and the GCW tests. Maybe some others. Just posting here in case others come along that remember me. If only AOL had archived all of those great posts and memories.
If any old timers stumble upon here, feel free to drop me an email at my username @gmail.com.
-
...but I only really remember Zarrin from AE and AckbarTB (who I believe IRL is Tim Bradshaw).
Zarrin is Amir, he's by now either got or almost got his doctorate in something from U of Pitt. I played extensively with him in AE during that time as well! :D
But the TB initials were short for Toilet Bubble as far as I understood it ;D
-
Ah yes, Amir! The number of IM chats we had. Crazy times.
What was your handle then?
-
in AE i believe like WellerTerk, YxWeller, some variation probably. I spent loads of time in AE tho, CSA during formation originally, faction fell thru, started SIU w KJustice. Soriano (Jason) was GE Emperor for while I believe, VanWormer (other Jason) featured regularly. I (separate Jason) did CSA, SIU, Hapans (w Hobbes), and Amir's imp faction briefly
TCNButchx was another dude that did CSA. Also same guy that got me in trouble in FP Imp faction for plotting a coup =)
-
Sparq, I was SMBeast. I ran LotF. I think I remember you.
-
SMBeast and Weller -- I remember you guys!
CSA and SIU, all coming back to me now.
-
Yes I recall you Sparq! but I wasn't sure if it was from AE or some of the later stuff like GR
The more things change the more they stay the same tho, many other old AOLers still keep the game going in different forms here
-
I remember Sparqman but don't think I ever had any real contact with you.
-
I hope this forum is still active...
Lord Tybrus
Dark Lord of the Sith
Captain of the Emperor's Guard
Wearer of the Red Sash
Commanding SSD Retribution
I think that was how the tag lines used to work back in the day. I can't believe I never found this place before.
Only other person I kept in touch with was R2Unit2000(maybe 3000 I don't recall anymore) he went to West Point and became an officer in the Army. He was 12 years old when he joined IGE and was one of the twin 12 year old Admirals we had at the time. I so can't recall the other ones name. I used to have all the IGE stuff on some back up disks (LOL) if I can find a disk drive ill see if I can get some of them posted. Like the old CSD (Command Star Destroyer) and such.
If anyone wants to talk my Email is still [email protected] LOL (In fact I never changed my profile info as of last I checked I was still wearing the Red Sash!)
PS: I STILL HATE ADMIRAL BRADD!!!!

Welcome Tybrus,
I'm the social director, Syren and we are very much still active. Things are getting ready to ramp up again after a brief pause for the holidays. GCW Hale is currently the GM and oversees the GCW universe. Please PM him for any details or questions you might have. There is plenty of fun to be had and we would love to have you jump in where ever you feel comfortable. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask.
:)

Welcome to the fold, Comrade!
-
I'm glad to know the boards are still active, I just hope some of the old crew checks them from time to time....

Oh how you tempt me.... I think my wife may kill me if I were to start up Galaxies again. Hm....
