So how about a rule on Star Destroyers that they can only fire into forward facing grids, lol!

The UCR differential handles everything. The SSD is UCR 1 so it will only do a third of its damage against the biggest ships in this game. That amounts to 1260 points against Mon Cals, which is ISD-II territory when you think about it. The only upside to the SSD is that it has enough hit points to go blow-for-blow with you, which means you'll retreat before it will. 4 full wings of fighters helps a little bit too, lol.

Yes but ISDII and ISD are 3 UCR so they do 75% or higher versus most targets (all capital ships from rebs of any size/power) plus can disable the shit out of things they dont blow up. I don't know how a RAF+RAF+QBFC+QFBC+NEB fleet would fare against an ISD. Basically my point is, without a big MC 80 and lots of fighters, every confrontation with an ISD will end in loss of multiple capital ships, and probably a forced retreat because they have speed 2 to chase you if you try to move away and breathe a little between those assaults. but we'll see how it plays out, can't really get a good feel just guessing. I'm just a little sad that it looks like all Imp players are using 1 big ISD and not smaller craft (like my dual RAF/QFBC fleet :D)

I should rephrase that - I love seeing ISDs in use. I remain a little concerned about balance on the battle field (1 large indestructable target that you cant get close to or you'll never escape its range). Fighter screen is weak though, so there's a chance its not as bad as I'm imagining it will be. I think we'll see a lot of star fighters vs imperials while rebel ships sit back and watch combat - which usually drives the Imp players nuts :P

For those who missed it, this is a spreadsheet with most of the units, their UCRs, damage outputs, and damage tolerances for quick reference. BOOKMARK IT or print it out:

The above post needs a sticky thread for it. Also, with what Hop is saying about the ISD, I think that thing needs a 23CP cost. You want it to be a stand alone destruction platform, then its needs to "STAND ALONE".

We also have another issue to address which is, what happens when we have to face off against THIS in battle:
Imperial-II Star Destroyer (ISD-II)
Cost: 2300 KCs
Production time: 23 Days
Length: 1600 meters
Hyperdrive: x1
Shields: 1800
Armor: 1800
Hull: 1600
Systems: 900
Speed: Fast (2)
Maneuver: (1)
Weapons:
50 Turbolaser Batteries (600)
50 Heavy Turbolaser Cannons (500)
20 Ion Batteries (100)
10 Tractor Beam Projectors (1000m)
Onboard Units:
1 Elite Tie Interceptor Squadron
1 Tie Avenger Squadron
2 Tie Advanced Sqaudrons
2 Tie Bomber Squadrons
61 Gamma class Assault Shuttles
1500 Imperial ARC Trooper Squads
30 AT-ATs
1 Prefabricated Imperial Fleet Depot

Imperial Star Destroyer (ISD)
Cost: 1900 KCs
Production time: 19 Days
Length: 1600 meters
Hyperdrive: x2
Shields: 1600
Armor: 1600
Hull: 1600
Systems: 800
Speed: Fast (2)
Maneuver: (1)

60 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries (900)
60 Heavy Ion Cannons (240)
10 Tractor Beam Projectors (1000m)
Onboard Units:
1 Elite Tie Interceptor Squadron
1 Tie Avenger Squadron
2 Tie Advanced Sqaudrons
2 Tie Bomber Squadrons
56 Gamma class Assault Shuttles
1000 Imperial ARC Trooper Squads
20 AT-ATs

The above scenario I understand is a far off picture, but what happens when everyone gets maxed out, and you really do have all that. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to face off against that with ANYTHING. Not to mention, ontop of the 3 star destroyers, you got a combined 15CP MORE to play with!! Yet you have the audacity to complain that the MC-90 has to be a stand alone vessel because of some extra shields...

-sniffs the air- I smell bullshit...

Ok, doing a bit more math here, this is a worse case scenario, which is so imbalanced it would take a combined assault from the entire combined non-imperial game in a hit at one of OUR strongholds to simply make this retreat, and we would all lose everything...

1 ISD II, 2 ISD I, 2 ESC, 1 Neb, 3 IPV-1, 6 CRAK... This is including all hero bonus's, and keep in mind the ISD specs above... unbeatable. And dont even begin an argument about how you 3 imp players wont be working as a single cohesive unit. That would be a lie as you've already shown it. Combine this with an SSD and all 3 of their PDF fleets, the entire universe combined could never touch coruscant. As I stated, it would take all of us at one of our OWN strongholds just to make that retreat, at a loss of everything we own.

I dont understand how this is not imbalanced?

Edit: And keep in mind, with 2 max level rebel leaders, the best me and hop could ever throw at that is 4 MC-90... 4 MC-90 vs all that... lol.

Each rebel fighter squadron has the firepower and MORE hp than the average small capital ship. I have 6 squadrons with which to defend myself. I'm the one who is worried.

Sorry for bringing it up again ;) ... Its not so imbalanced ram ... Do the math for a mc80 and escorts (17 squads i think) with pimped sf and aux.. Thats a beast as well

Okay I just went through a few scenarios and the result is that ISD is bad ass but so are fighters. We will be losing capital ships to an ISD (my fleet the two RAFs will prolly blow all the time because an ISD can disable one in a turn so putting one in range of an ISD is literally sacrificing it and accepting the 600 KC loss) but the fighters can drive off the ISD or destroy it if it gets trapped in... so its a gamble for the ISD player. He can inflict $$ damage, but rebels should be able to drive them off if they are desperate enough. and with a favorable set of circumstances, they can win easily (just like ISD can as well with circumstances).

I still am not crazy about the 2 speed though, for playing purposes. If the UCR was 2 not 3 and it was slower, then ships like RAFs would at least have the idea of a chance of surviving the first round of combat :P

The only real danger, though, is that rebels will be replacing 1200-2000 KCs every battle while Imperials will be replacing < 600 KCs in losses OR replacing an entire ISD because they stuck around too long... and an ISD is only like 2700 KC right? So rebs have much more expensive combat costs. That's the danger (it happened in NR in LotF, we couldnt afford to replace our fighters anymore).

My first ship ever was a Modified Frigate in IGE, 3rd fleet maybe?, I named it Spearhead, appropriately. =)

My earliest IN DEPTH simming exploits were first Flashpoint, one of the Imperial sims, but I got kicked out like in first couple weeks cuz a dude came at me talking about overthrowing the emperor and starting an internal war, and that sounded like a super cool concept right! but I just got imprisoned! =(

My favoritest simming was the first few years of AE.  SIU with KJustice, Sovereign Imperial Union, VSD Audacity.
