If any of our resident spreadsheet gurus want to volunteer a template we can all use for this stuff, that would be great!  :-*

Why does that sound like me?  ...  ;)

I'll poke around at what I'd use and share it.  Y'all are welcome to use it.  If someone else wants to create their own or a template for others, zero offense will be taken here.

1. A read-only Google Doc/Spreadsheet that lists their starting units, with a cost break down. Please ROUND all numbers when calculating costs.

How do you want to round?  Nearest MC or 2 decimal (like we would for USDs)?

No decimals! The dollar is doomed!

I'll keep working from my original public document for the SA.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Lr45crkYKNgeP3_Ly8L_4P-24ct5ZQxLWnfQm2vyeTg/edit?usp=sharing

First tab is accounting (yet to be updated for the latest changes).  Currently the second tab is a back-up of my accounting main tab just in case.  Pretend it doesn't exist and I'll refer to subsequent tabs like it doesn't.  The second tab is the maintenance calculator.  It's the super simple list of your ships and facilities and just totals up what your maintenance for your currently built things are.  It hasn't been updated for the latest changes at the time of this post.  Finally, we start getting into planet sheets.  Here we have the planet name, the orbital/ship/ground assets at it, and then the grid with a color/letter coded key for terrains.

Feedback is absolutely welcome as this is very much a first pass.

A simple spreadsheet "hack" is to simply tab everything out in any word processing program, and set the font to Courier.
Courier uses an equidistant spacing scheme so that each letter and empty space physically occupies the same amount of space.

I attached a file to this post "System Grid Template - Notepad Edition" if you want a down and dirty version.

For example, here is how it looks in Arial.

PLANET GRID

   A  B  C  D  E
1 ( )( )( )( )( )
2 ( )(X)(X)( )( )
3 ( )(X) O ( )( )
4 ( )( )( )( )( )
5 ( )( )( )( )( )

(#) UNIT                      LOCATION
(1) Orbital Space Dock-III    B-2
(4) Corellian Corvettes       B-2
(4) Corellian Corvettes       B-3
(4) Corellian Corvettes       C-2

Here is how it looks in Courier.

Aesthetically, a huge difference. Might be easier to adapt when writing posts too.

I am also finishing an automated map plotting app.

It will have two text area inputs that will take something like this;

ISDI Deaths Head <E-A1>
VSDII Viceroy <E-B2>
TIEF 36 <E-B2>
TIEB 12 <E-C2>

(Note: <E-C2> means heading east, grid C2. Also, unit abbreviations will be fomalized and in the specs)

This should work for the ground grid as well, but first i want to get it working for space.

And plot them visually on the map for you, and you can hover over icons to see a popup with details. The first version will be rough but eventually I willa dd more features. I am close to having this tdone.. just need time and all my free time has been in the docs this last 10 days.

Okay, the sheet is updated now with what my builds should look like (I reserve the right change details for a little longer!), but prices and such should all be good now.  The sample planet has been updated with some sample data, and the orbital grid to go with the ground grid.

Let me know if you see anything incorrect, or have ideas/suggestions.

So how are things going?

Sorry for the lack of communication. I'll make a new thread today with starting conditions and all that.

Please sit tight a bit longer :)

Just want to make sure I haven't missed the new thread.  Going to be very busy next week packing up, but might find some down time, too.

I am here for sure.  I think it might be a little short notice.  Possibly get a role call out so everyone is actually aware.  The long several delays might have slepted a few.
