Galactic Realms, again! (yeah)

- Game works on cycles (taxes collected, ships take X cycles to build, and so on).
- A cycle finishes when every player/faction has made at least one attack.
- Units may only be used once in a cycle (consider everything as happening 'simultaneously')
- Simple credit-based economy.

- No limits on what you can command, if you can build it, good for you. But see rules above.

- No arcs
- Unlimited turning on the grid
- Speed ratings
- No more than 1 capital ship/platform per grid space, no more than 36 friendly support units per grid space, no more than 36 friendly vehicles per grid space, no more than 2,000 friendly troopers per grid space.
- Traditional weapons (ISD has 60 Turbolasers (600 damage) and so on)
- No fancy starfighter combat ratings (just fire weapons take damage)

- If enemy support units are in same grid space, neither can move or attack another target until all enemies destroyed.
- The rule above applies to vehicles in same grid space in ground combat.
- No other CSP/rules regarding starfighters.

- Vehicles/Support units that fire on troops "pin down" XX number of troops per cannon type (if you fire 48 Laser Cannons, you would trap 480 Troopers from retreating/moving their next turn).
- Troops only damage troops (and are much much more effective than vehicles).

- No travel times or anything like that. You pick a world you are going to attack, the fleet you are going to send, and so on. This will all be chosen at cycle start and is secret. So folks won't know who attacked what where before committing to their own attacks.
- Then we play out all the battles.



Grid will probably be either round A-D Ring with 16 grids or a square one with 10x10 or a combined square grid with space being columns 1-10, and ground being 11-20, etc.

In my opinion if you want to use this rule set, just do it within the After Jakku universe and either use it for a specific sector (a specific group of planets, easily identifiable by the thread name) or for specific campaigns.

I'm personally interested in a game of nostalgia, ignoring the new movies, and focusing on just after Endor and using our traditional style specifications (versus the AP system in Jakku).

"nostalgia" for me is not for intensive/detailed rules. SWA Flashpoint felt like that to me but I could be wrong.

No Arcs, Grid, it might even be better to not have any of the weird "support units stop other support units in same grid space" rules to keep it streamlined (though I think those rules are what adds the tactical quality to it, but perhaps too much to manage).

I dunno.

Gonna throw together a warlock and ask folks to mock out some battles and see.

More interested in something focused on Dark v Light and character confrontation/duel driven gaming myself.


But to contribute something on topic, wouldn't the prime story fertile ground for any game be something set after the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga? 12-20-19. 10mos isn't really that long, and leaves lots of time to work.  Just my pittance anyways.

If you want duels, we can just add rules for dueling and set something up in a specific system thread within an existing universe (AJ or AE). So a duel on Bakura should happen in the Bakura thread, etc.

Oh I'm sure we can gin up a new post-IX game when the time comes. As far as AJ goes, because it has slowed.. I think it's probably due for a reboot along the lines I discussed in the GM corner. The game made it 6+ months, which is par for the course, so it's understandable that we've hit a slump. I see AJ's future as being a sandbox for one-off campaigns, rather than the traditional empire building, but I'm struggling with some writer's block at the moment. Pew pew shoot'em up is fun, but no story makes for a dull gaming experience.
