ORD MANTELL
In the days of the Old Republic, Ord Mantell was a vibrant trading outpost and was considered a key stronghold in the Middle Rim. Over time, the planet's significance waned as more systems were colonized and galactic trade shifted elsewhere. During the Clone Wars, the planet was refurbished and restored to its proper status as an Ordinance Regional Depot ("ORD"). Though, little did the Republic realize that by then, the Black Sun crime syndicate had all but taken over the planet's affairs. When the Galactic Empire was formed, an uneasy truce was established and the Empire was "allowed" a single starport and palace. Much of the planet's surface is a mixture of vast junkyards, wildlands, hyperfuel storage facilities, nomadic settlements, and starports.

ORD MANTELL // DEEP SPACE

The Interdictor Cruiser Equalizer exited hyperspace in X-1, raised shields, initiated ComScan procedures, and deployed its full contingent of support units. Commander Denzel paced the bridge as he looked out over the viewport, eyeing the planet in the distance. In the months after Endor, the Imperial Palace was locked up and abandoned completely, and so Denzel wasn't going to take any chances.

ORD MANTELL // LOW ORBIT

As the cruiser Equalizer moved into lower orbit, a strange phenomena was observed: no hails, no queries, nothing. Small craft of all sorts could be seen coming and going from the planet's surface, but none seemed concerned at all with the presence of an Imperial warship.

ORD MANTELL // SURFACE / IMPERIAL SQUARE

An away team was dispatched to the surface of Ord Mantell to verify the condition of the Imperial Palace. It was pristine, and yet, fully abandoned. A veritable ghost town. And yet outside the walls of the Imperial Square it was business as usual. Commander Denzel's curiosity had become fully aroused. What is going on here? Black Sun would've easily taken over this place as soon as it was abandoned. Making note of this in his commander's log, Denzel decided to move forward with his orders. They were to prepare for the arrival of a new crew to re-establish the Operations Center within the palace. Meanwhile, several droids were tasked with reviewing the palace's personnel logs to see if any clues could be found as to why the Imperial Square was left untouched by the locals.

ORD MANTELL // SURFACE / IMPERIAL SQUARE > OPCENT > FLIGHT DECK

Commander Denzel's review of the logs turned up nothing, but he had to advance with the plan despite this. The Operations Center was brought online and manned, and so it was time to move on. And so, as Denzel walked down a hallway towards the flight deck, a shadowy figure descended from the ceiling, landing on both feet.

"Commander Denzel, I presume?" said the figure, with a highly accented female voice, clearly humanoid.

Immediately, the security escort raised their blaster pistols.

"Who's asking?" replied Denzel.

"Your benefactor. I'm the reason why Imperial Square has been left untouched."

Denzel made a downward motion with his hand to signal the security to lower their blasters. "And how is that, exactly?"

"I require an audience with your leader, Lord Admiral Hale. Take me to him, and you will know the truth of what happened here."

Denzel paused for a moment. "You'll understand if I have to restrain you."

"Do as you must. There are more important matters going on."

"Just tell me who you are," asked Denzel.

"Katoh Niyne..."

ORD MANTELL // ORBIT

And with that, the Equalizer rallied its crew and entered hyperspace.

ORD MANTELL // SURFACE / IMPERIAL SQUARE

Lord Admiral Hale's modernization program for the once-derelict Imperial Ordinance Regional Depot headquarters for Ord Mantell was finally seeing some results: Imperial Square had finally been overhauled to the point where Tempest Squadron could now use the ground facilities as a Strategic Command Base. It was a glorious day for Tempest Squadron.
