Multiple sources state from EA that it will be cross-platform play, so no matter what you get it for you should be able to game against those playing on anything else.
I just hope it's not too geared toward a leveling system where players with nothing but time to pour in to it can easily smash more casual players like I will probably be. This is somewhat what started turning me off on X-Wing Miniatures eventually when battles became more geared toward won or lost in the design/upgrade/squad building phase vs. just flying.
PS5 release is Nov 20th right now if it holds firm. Squadrons is Oct 2nd. Pretty sure I'm going to wait and get it for PS5. Speculation atm is that the digital only PS5 will be $500, and old PS4s 500GB models are going for 250-300 still on Ebay. So I may sell my 4 in late Sept/early Oct on Bay and then basically be getting a PS5 upgrade for half price.
I've yet to play any VR games, I'll look in to it for Squadrons on the 5, but the option/ability to do so is interesting prospect.
I use Steam for all my PC gaming, but I also don't play action games/controller necessary games on PC either. Total Wars, U-Boat, city-builders and This War of Mine. I've always felt platforms are better for Action/FPS gaming, plus my TV is way bigger than my monitor sooo, and I need to get out of the game room/off the chair and on the couch from time to time, Squadrons on 5 will meet this need.
