Loved it.

Where are they in desert? Tatooine? Jakku? Jedha?

Where is the crashed death star???  Endor System? Yavin System?

I always get this strong sense of nostalgia and excitement when I see the first trailer. Goosebumps and all. There is just something inherently powerful watching anything related to the Star Wars universe.

A few things...

1) The title. Rise of Skywalker? It just doesn't sound as definitive as a final chapter should. The Last Jedi held more finality in it. Also, if Luke perished at the end of the last film and Leia will most likely meet her end in this one, could that mean reformation for Kylo? As far as we know, there aren't any other Skywalker's left to "rise." 

2) What's with Palpatine's laugh? Is this borrowing from Dark Empire where Palpatine is "reborn?" Or, is Rey really a Palpatine which would mean she was taken from Naboo and dumped on Jakku.

Re: Dark Empire, I think they should give us novelizations of the Dark Empire trilogy in the EU\Legends universe by someone who has already published in that universe (Kevin J. Anderson?). That way we would have new EU\Legends novels that everyone would be OK with since the story was already part of the EU. And we would be ecstatic that we have new EU books to get our hands on. Just a thought.

I have heard it tossed around that she was created using the hand of Luke that was holding the lightsaber.

Rise could be taken to mean rising from the dead.  We know/believe Palp is dead, we know/believe Luke is dead.  We hear them both plainly in the trailer.  Or maybe not rising back to life, but having their force beings relinquished to the higher levels upon completion/resolution of something (the saga) ?

Also Kylo is a Solo.  Leia is an Organa-Solo.  She never goes by Leia Skywalker in film tmk, I don't think Skywalker can at all be a reference to Leia or Ben/Kylo then.


Is also possible then that Kylo was inaccurate/misleading Rey in TLJ when he told her she was nobody special.  She could be the Skywalker who rises.



I don't see Rey as a Palpatine though, but there's got to be something more to her origin than is out in the open at the moment so who knows... but I suppose in the end Anakin Skywalkers beginning with the immaculate conception of Shmi is out of the blue also..  it stands to reason Rey is an out of the blue as Kylo said..
