Kashyyyk is a vibrant jungle world enjoying one continuous season in all respective regions due to its lack of axial tilt and perfectly circular orbit of its host star. The worlds four continents make up forty-percent of its surface area while a large tropical oceanic belt filled with expansive coral reefs and archipelagos wrapped around its center. Aside from the island beaches and true high land, most of Kashyyyks continental surface area is itself quite swampy, and most "Dry Land" can be found above in the towering wroshyr-trees. It is here the planets native sentient species, the formidable Wookiees, make their homes. Most of their villages and cities span the upper most levels of the forests and generally, the deeper toward the surface you go, the less high on the food chain the Wooks themselves stand.
The planet has a storied history, being a contested Mid Rim world at various times throughout galactic history. The immediate proximity of Trandosha and similar warrior like cultures have put the Trandoshans and Wookiees at odds with one another frequently. During the Clone Wars the Army of the Republic fought the Separatists Droid Armies there. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Wookiee resistance to Imperial domain brought them much pain and the official label of "nuisance species". Trandoshan slavers were given free reign over Kashyyyk and the Wookiees they captured or killed could bring a healthy return in many places. With the Empire's defeat at the Battle of Endor and the push of Alliance fleets Coreward with swelling support, Kashyyyk was eventually liberated of it's enslavement. As a contingency of it's membership in the burgeoning New Republic, reprisals against the nearby Trandoshans are forbidden.
