Brentaal is a core human homeworld located at the confluence of the Hydian Way and Perlemian Route, making it one of the major trade centers in the galaxy. It has a storied history of conflict spanning from the Early Republic Era when the Legions of Lettow battled the Jedi Order in the First Schism to the modern Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance. The world itself is arid with warm and temperate weather, each of the poles is covered in large polar caps while the equator is marked by deserts and steaming oceans. With limited desirable land then left to occupy, it was mostly dominated by rugged terrain, sprawling modern cities and massive trade ports.
Several months after the Battle of Endor, the newly formed New Republic launched an operation to liberate the planet. Rogue Squadron partook in the advance recon operations and together with the shortly arriving fleet led by Alliance hero Admiral Gial Ackbar routed the Imperial defenders. With the Imperial retreat, a portion of the population loyal to the Empire and fearing reprisals fled deeper in to the Core taking with them looted chunks of the worlds trade wealth.
