SWSF: Storylining Watercooler
« on: October 13, 2017, 10:19:16 AM »
So I tried to rush ahead a few times into a story and characters for the NR but have now accepted I need to step back and spend some time daydreaming about the few character ideas I have. Also, trying to think of a way to downsize things a bit, as I'm being overly ambitious in scope I believe and its dragging everything down. But I am so eager to be writing in the SW universe that I'm getting really frustrated and impatient with myself!

It happens that's for sure.

Usually have to write.  Read.  Rework.  Write some more.  Rip things apart.  The. Just accept it's gonna go where it goes.

Then things go well.  :). Most the time.

Yeah I would be well served to loosen up and just put down stuff without dwelling on everything so much then going back to rework it. I have a lot of trouble with that, though. I tend to get stuck thinking/planning/doubting phase and struggle to produce shit most of the time - in writing, coding, business decisions, etc... stupid me!

Have a really basic thought and then let the writing flesh it out. Don't over analyze as you go.

Create your back cast for the faction and then figure out where you want a primary character you create to fit in.

General Crix Madine went to Endor with Solo.  He went on to serve the NR.  He's a Corellia native.  That's a great piece that while seen and used isn't too forward that it's like you're writing with Luke or Leia.  I would leave those people alone and they're doing whatever (esp because we have referenced Luke as alive in TGE stories already ;p).  Maybe Leia appears in backdrop here and there as a politician doing her thing?  I'd think she's probably in that saving Alderaanian Ex-Pats/Survivors right now anyways maybe? *shrug*  Solo and Chewbak are doign whatever.  Hes pissed Leia is consumed with her agendas still because he just wants to whisk her away obviously.  Maybe Luke is starting a Jedi Academy and you touch on that to whatever degree you prefer?  Maybe ther's some Jedi appointee person he has discovered and uses as his intermediary/player in the forward NR happenings?

That's just me though!  I think Crix is a cool piece to utilize that isn't too expanded on already really.  Maybe Ackbar is your arm chair admiral and you've got another upstart Mon Cal guy slurring and sputtering his fish stinking way to victory! =)

But myself I wouldn't totally do away with the Core Gang personnel, I'd just try and leave them more to the shadows but referenced and left out of the primary campaigning you do.  But your Row-Day-Oh!
