Howdy!
So it looks like we are a month out from an actual game here (Hopefully LESS -winkcoughwinkcough-).
With that being said once we have it up and running and people participating we should probably make some sort of effort to gain followers. Anyone have any thoughts?
Let me know! :D

Raid other SW fansites? The fan fic community is massive, and dare I some may be gaming inclined.
-
Promo raids on some of other larger sites might def bring the curiously gamer inclined. Ive browsed numerous fanfic/sortasim sites over the years but its been quite some time, have never seen one really like our brand. Never the encompassing immersive treatment and usually less splendorous then us ;)
though it could piss some people off if we start tagging sites that dont have a set place for it already? Id feel kind of like a residential solicitor showed up at my door if we had one one day. I know Hop said we got constant spam registration as well when we had open registration which brought whatever admin headaches.
Alternatively, We could also take the dirty route and seek to PM specific people who seem like assets? Hijack the talent if you will ;p

For what it's worth, a few years ago I tried promoting on another forum service that had a lot of Star Wars RP communities. My IP address was banned swiftly, and I don't think I'm a very provocative person. Could have just been that particular community.
-
Reddit has a couple LFG/RPG communities we could put an advertisement up in.
-
I think that Hop opened registration for now. I could be wrong.
I also got a lot of backlash putting us out there on some sites. I am also a provocative person so who knows!
I think one of best chances is to start getting active on other sites. I have started getting active at theforce.net and have us in my signature. Just a thought.
We could do some ad targeting on Facebook if anyone wanted to throw in some cash? I could also use something call Tweepi to get us more twitter followers and get people from twitter.

Forget twitter.
Facebook ads could be worthwhile if you take the time to test lots of variations of an ad and optimize it thoroughly.
Registration is open.
I wouldn't invest in bringing in members until there is a rock-solid game created, among other things. You may also have conflict with Trademarks promoting the Star Wars forum on Facebook...
-
I think you are right regarding trademark issues.
That being said I don't think Twitter is a bad idea at all to be honest.

140 characters is the size of one line of 100lined status report ;p slight hyperbole slight truthiness
It's a platform for spreading word though I spose. Also agreed w Hop that def no point in recruiting for a non-existent army as of yet =)
-
I agree. No point in doing anything until a game is up and running.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't brainstorm it now either.
