Diplomacy Mission
A lone shuttle emerged from hyperspace and took up position within the civilian space lanes. Governor Shan Oradin, a calculating woman with an ever growing desire to obtain power, sat beside her personal bodyguard, Lieutenant Marxal Daxx, as they approached the industrial planet. Home of Rendili Stardrive, famed builder of the Dreadnaught Cruiser and Victory Star Destroyer, Rendili would be an excellent addition to the Empire, one that the Director and Grand Vizier would not be able to overlook. A successful diplomacy mission here would most definitely help elevate the ambitious Shan. The planet remained loyal to the Empire, but since the death of Emperor Palpatine, no formal relations had been established. Shan hoped to rectify that oversight.
Plugging away a series of codes she had obtained with the help of her father, Shan established a secure communications link with the office of the Arch-Provost. "Greetings. This is Governor Shan Oradin of Brentaal. I wish to speak with the Arch-Provost on the matter of contract and relations with the Galactic Empire.
"Do you expect a response so easily," asked Lt. Daxx.
"On matters of currency and trade, one can always expect a response, Lieutenant."
Data began to stream across the screen. The beeps and whistles of an astromech droid secured to the wall behind her indicated that the message was encrypted and being translated for her pleasure. The message read: GOVERNOR... PROCEED TO ORBITAL STATION... MEETING WITH CONTRACTOR APPROVED... FLIGHT CONTROL WILL GIVE FURTHER INSTRUCTION... Shan turned to Marxal and smiled, "You see? Always a response when promised proper coin."

Diplomacy Mission
Governor Shan Oradin, her servant Olithia, and escort Lt. Marxal Daxx toured the manufacturing line of the orbital shipyard, where TIE Fighters were being assembled by the hundreds for distribution to worlds still favoring the cheap and versatile design. A long conveyer moved wing frames from one side of the warehouse, a similar conveyer moved solar panels from the other side, and in the middle droids worked to join the two. A pair of smaller droids fixed the panels into the frame and welded brackets into place. Then, a much larger droid collected the completed fin and lifted it. A passing clasp on an overhead conveyer latched on, moving the fin to the next station where a bracket was attached to complete the wing assembly. The overhead conveyer than moved to the next room, taking the wing to where the ball-cockpit assemblies were waiting. Olithia turned to the viewport behind them, which presented a view into space and outside operations. The wire-frame of a Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser filled the view, sparks of light all over where internals were being welded in place by yet more droids.
"Governor Oradin," a man said as he stepped out of the nearby turbolift with his entourage. A tall, slender man with greying hair, he was dressed in something similar to the Imperial grey worn by fleet officers. "Welcome to Rendili. How may I be of service to you today?" He locked his heals together and performed a short bow at the waste in the Governor's direction.
"Thank you very kindly," she responded, stepping forward and reaching out to take the man's hand. "I appreciate your being able to see me so quickly without appointment. I understand how busy you must be." She looked out to the cruiser being constructed. "Wars have a tendency to demand large quantities of warships, after all."
The man chuckled fairly convincingly at the joke. "That they do, that they do. So, Governor, what brings you all the way out here from Brentaal IV?"
"I wish to conduct business on behalf of my people, of course. I also desire words on the current state of things. The war, government, allegiance, things of that sort."
"Of course, madam." He nodded his head in another short bow. "Shall we retire to the dining room? It would be far more quiet than here among the lines." He smiled at her as she nodded her approval. He turned and walked to the turbolift. They followed.
The dining room was modest, considering the wealth held by the corporation. Shan circled the table and admired the place settings. Native flowers to the planet had been blown out of glass and used as decorations throughout the display. A white room filled with crystal and scarcely another color, she found it very pleasing. Her host motioned for her to have a seat. She did so as a pair of humans dressed in white placed a crystal plate filled with berries and cut fruit from all over the galaxy at the center of the table. Shan collected a handful of small purple berries in her hand. She picked one out and placed it in her mouth. "Things appear to be doing well around here, despite the war."
"We do what is necessary to remain civilized, but I would be less than truthful if I told you that the situation is ideal. The collapse of the Empire has proven profitable, however, chaos comes at a heavy price. Smuggling, piracy, and worst of all, governments defaulting on their loans. Where we should see record earnings, we see a parsec of red in losses." He peeled a small red fruit and bit into the moist center. "A two-sided war would be far preferable to the hundreds of smaller wars taking place all around us. A stalemate between two major powers would be the most profitable to us."
"I understand your meaning. Unfortunately nobody has shown the clout to fill the power vacuum left by the Emperor. There is hope though."
"Oh? Do you favor Director Isard, or Vizier Pestage?"
"Neither. A new leader swells the ranks of member worlds, wielding a fleet, ironically, of your best design."
"You refer to this new rising star? The Sith that claimed Ord Mantell, Bandomeer, and Toprawa within days of each other?"
"Darth Algoz, former Emperor's Hand, and new soul of the new Sith Empire. In fact, his charisma was of such extent that my own world has aligned with him as well. More still knock at the door, waiting to be accepted. I believe he could be the leader we are looking for, one capable of bringing the Empire back into line. He has already begun to reestablish the Senate."
"You don't say," he said as he looked down in thought. "Returning a voice to the people could work. It is one thing greatly resented when Palpatine dissolved it."
"As we felt on Brentaal." Servers began to arrive with several courses of different dishes. "For now, let us feast on what you have prepared. We can discuss Imperial matters further when we have finished."

Diplomacy Mission
A repeating chime awakened Shan from her sleep. She rolled onto her back and stretched with a yawn, then rubbed her eyes. The holoterminal at the other end of the room was lit, and the chime indicated an incoming message. She sat up and dangled her legs over the side of the bed while slipping her arms through her robes. She stood, wrapping the robes around her and tying the waste-band as she walked to the terminal. With a few quick key strokes the message appeared. A flash of concern rushed through her as she read of the surprise attack at Eriadu. The Rebels had jumped the Dark Lord's fleet, and a battle ensued. Few details were available. A part of Shan was mortified at the thought of losing an asset such as the Sith. Another part, a more sinister part, acknowledged the possibility of quicker ascension to the thrown. The title of Moff had already been granted her by Grand Vizier Sate Pestage. She brushed the thought of becoming Empress to the back of her mind, focusing again on her mission here.
"Good morning," Director Isligh greeted as she entered the hall. He introduced her to three other corporate officials who were with him. "We have been busy discussing the Empire's proposal. After reviewing the cost benefits, we feel it was the right decision to join the Imperial Network."
"I would obviously agree," she said with a smile. "The Rebel's purchase of mere Frigates and Dreadnaughts pale in comparison to our ability to buy Star Destroyers. In this sector, the Rebels have already shown no desire to allow neutrality, as displayed at Bespin and most recently Thyferra. Rendili will do much better under our protection."
"The foundation has already been completed for the new Fleet Depot, Moff Oradin. When the new defenses arrive, we will waste no time appointing a Senator to represent us in the reestablished government."
"I am glad to hear it. News reaches me of the Dark Lord's plans. I believe it will swell the pockets of your planet. We will be making a great many orders for new ships very soon."

Diplomacy Mission
With each passing day the temptation to oust Darth Algoz politically grew heavier on the mind of Moff Shan Oradin. News of his abandoning Eriadu had reached her ears hours after it had happened. Although anyone would understand the need to protect Imperial assets in such a way, it was difficult to see yet another Rebel victory over the Empire. In a private telegram to leaders of importance, the Dark Lord had expressed the need to keep these Star Destroyers from falling into enemy hands. Already, throughout the fallen Empire, Rebels and Hapans were capturing better and better technology. The sudden proliferation was a clear and present danger to the rightful Empire.
Shan had been careful in her selection of the ships that would come to replace the defenses of Rendili. Those ships were arriving now. She had just returned from the grand opening of the new Imperial Fleet Depot, where the newly elected Senator of Rendili had made his acceptance speech and boarded a transport to Imperial Center. All that remained was the completion of the Palace, which was now under way. Shan had succeeded at Rendili. Darth Algoz had failed at Eriadu. Who truly holds the favor of the Imperial leadership.

The Fleet of the Sith Empire emerged from hyperspace above the newly joined member planet of the Empire. Rendili had made the right decision with some persuading by Moff Shan Oradin, who had since been appointed yet again at the request of Rendili Stardrives to the position of Lord General. This had irritated Darth Algoz. His near disaster at Eriadu had taken him several steps back, allowing others like Shan to progress and gain favor. Still, his was the fleet of the Sith Empire. He continued to form the secret coalition under the noses of those on Imperial Center. The incident with the Rebels at Eriadu had been a setback, but one that presented opportunity as well.
Shan watched as the ships of the fleet arrived at Rendili. She was pleased to see them in fair form. Once wrestled from the hands of the Sith, they would be HERS to command. But that day was not today. Her shuttle continued on its path away from the planet before leaping away into hyperspace for yet another mission.

The populous of Rendili was going about their daily routine. Much like any day, technicians aboard the Tuk'ata sat at their stations following traffic on the Imperial Network. An anomaly presented itself to one such technician. A signal eminating from sector DS-1 had been detected, an active scan signal. He immediately reported to his supervisor, who in turn reported to his, who gave the order to send a probe out to investigate. A single probe droid dropped from the hangar bay and speed off in the direction of the signal. As it broke through to deep space, information began to pour in on the passive scanning band. A rebel fleet had arrived in the system. The droid immediately transmitted back to the defenses. Another technician received the results, then reported to his supervisor, who reported to their supervisor, and so on until it reached Joint Defense Commander Aaron Blarr, who gave the command to elevate status to red alert. The signal was transmitted throughout the defense forces and the Sith Fleet. The information was also broadcast via the Holonet to the rest of the Empire. It was on!

Sensor techs began to move throughout the control room in an effort to identify an anomaly just outside the system. The Tak'ata repositioned its orbit and launched an imperial probe droid to investigate. Once again, the small bot found a rebel fleet poised in deep space, ready to strike. As the information came in, Darth Algoz laughed. The rebels had allowed too much time to pass since their last visit to Rendili, and in addition, had arrived while the fleet was stationed here. When asked what they were to do, Darth Algoz simply waved a hand and ordered all units to ready alert status. A holonet transmission of the situation was also sent out to all Imperial strongholds.

"Very good. Get us under power, inform all starfighters to wait to launch until we're further in system so we might give them what protection we can," Captain Bruntaali ordered. He looked over the tactical display on the monitor. "We'll take the point in the attack. All forward batteries to commence firing on target once in range."
As the lances of green and red laser fire began to fill the vacuum between the Republic and Imperial capital cruisers, a swarm of X-Wing starfighters erupted from the bellies of the stork-shaped escort and assault frigates. Within moments they had smashed into the cloud of TIE Fighters screening the larger battle formation.
This would be a costly fight for both sides.

Alarms began to ring as the Tuk'ata, flagship of the Sith Empire, came under massive attack. Due to yet more incompetence on the part of the crew, several squadrons of TIE Interceptors had been wrongly positioned on the other side of the planet. Worse yet, a massive group of auxiliary craft had been positioned far from the planetary defense fleet. New crew members rushed to replace those that had been dismissed, the smoldering bodies being carried away by troopers. Darth Algoz focused on the approaching fleet and barked orders to his men, who quickly reacted to his commands. He personally saw to the correction of the badly laid fighter screen, sending many to support the threatened shipyard while pulling others from low threat zones. Interceptors were grouped with Interceptors, standard fighters with their kind, and things began to sort themselves out. The damage, however, was done. Shields failed as the Destroyer took a pounding from strange heavy fighters the Dark Lord recognized as those being used by the rebel Ramano. He ordered their destruction, ignoring the lesser aged T-wings.
More alarms sounded as another fleet showed itself on the other side of the planet. A two-pronged attack! The Dreshdea was now taking serious damage, and returning some of its own. Darth Algoz ordered all ships to fire and to pull back to protect the shipyard, giving separate orders to a pair of light cruisers who had their own assignment. Auxiliary launched and moved out in support of the greater fleet, a massive movement to salvage the disaster that this had become. No failure of this degree could occur by accident. It was then that Darth Algoz became sure... he was being set up by someone higher up!

The Battle of Rendili was concluded as the last able elements of the Rebel forces escaped into hyperspace. They had succeeded in weakening the defenses of the Imperial world, but not nearly as much as Darth Algoz had believed they intended. They had left many disabled capital ships in the system, which were now being systematically captured and pulled into the shipyards. His own vessels began repairs as well. It would not be long now before the defenses of Rendili and the fleet were back to full functionality.
