Title: Star Wars Writer's Resource
Post by: SWSF Hoppus on August 13, 2019, 09:25:14 AM
Mayhaps something like this exists out there.

Thoughts on us making a sort of reference document on here that lists things like "types of transportation", "types of medical treatments", "types of weapons", "Construction Materials", etc... that's full of SW vocabulary for writers to reference for their storylines?

I typically do research on Wookiepedia.

Yeah me too, but I mean more a quick reference. Sometimes I need a name for a thing that I can plug into my story - like duracrete or transparisteel, or the names for engine parts and tools related to an X-Wing, like hydrospanners and things - those can be extremely time consuming to look up specifically. I just want to start keeping a sort of cheat sheet list for easy access.

I like the idea and agree that it can be time consuming. What do you think of a quick reference board on the main page, and we can start with a single thread where we keep terminology?

What do you mean Hop? Are you telling me you don't have a quantum matrix oscillator with a phased tachyon emitter and a subatomic inverter on hand?

It's at the Tosche Station.

But for real, I would simply google "star wars cross sections" and study a few of them. Starship anatomy gets repetitive.

Mad character images on pinterest I've discovered.

But yeah otherwise, Wookieped..

there are pages like these..

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_phrases_and_slang (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_phrases_and_slang)

might be a tool list somewheres on there..

Also, just make shit up.  Let the non-fiction writers worry about the rest!
