I didn't see one spot for rules questions so here it is along with my first question:
When a ship says simply "9,700 Troops" does this mean only the standard troops or...?
-
I think Hop addressed this elsewhere, but "stock complements" = the lowest echelon unit available to your faction.
Imperial Infantry, Republic Infantry, and Standard Infantry.
You pay the difference in cost to upgrade at time of purchase.

Yes. I need to update some specs as well as rules to make all this clear. On it!

Okay updated specs and rules regarding altering compliments and Rebel/Imperial sims building neutral technology. Let me know if you have any questions.

This may seem like a dumb question but when building starting facilities the Modular/Prefab Imperial Base DOES come with the troops, correct? Only the Prefab deployed from a ship does not?
-
Also can we get a slightly bigger map somewhere for help calculating HS jumps unless I am missing something.
-
It's a matter of counting squares at the end of the day.
Trip 1 takes 2 turns
Trip 2 takes 5 turns.
Trip 3 takes 1 turn.

Got it!
So I guess that just leaves the PreFab base question as it determines my PDF ideas.
Also another question thanks to Hale ( :) ) is do we have a process for adding new tech?
-
Hoppus is the game master, so it's up to him -- but I imagine how it was in the old days where factions got to generate 1 new tech per month might be what we wind up doing.
Anyone remember the ISD-III and Emperor Missile Frigate from GR?
I had to do some hard lobbying to get Laswell and others onboard with the EMF, lol.

Correct, every month that you are active you can submit a tech and it will go to vote. Simple majority I think. I will add this to rules.
Hale, I should be able to get those specs from the old GRU rule book (and all other specs not included).

Just FYI
I will be making some final rule adjustments/additions tonight. Hopefully, it will be enough for everyone to feel comfortable to get started tomorrow and post their starting units, etc.
There will be small adjustments to: Posting times, addition of Bombardment rules and clarification of Cap Ships in Atmosphere, Specifics on the sunlight grid (which is going to be 5x5 for now! And I am NEARLY there with the app that will plot units on the map. More on that as well).

While we're asking questions....
1) Troop Upgrades -> If I upgrade, say a a Marauder's troops from "Standard" (I assume the default when not listed) to ESPO, I do this math: =((80/160)*7)-((80/160)*5) (80/160 to determine % of a company * 7, the cost minus what the same, but 5 for standard cost). I assume that's the intention, since it's less than company sized.
2) OSDs can just be built in space, or they need some kind of platform to be built?

Correct, correct

Never got me an answer about PreFab bases that are bought as opposed to deployed. Do those bases bought come with the forces listed?

I would say, no. I will post specs/prices.

If I were to purchase a bulk cruiser can I replace the z 95 with b wings in this manner
B wing is 18 m so 2 squads. And z 95 is 10m and the bulk cruiser comes with 4 squads
Total size remains within parameters. But I lose two squads. Thoughts?

Z-95 is actually 11. So 528m worth. So you can actually get 29 B-Wings in there. It is kinda a PITA. An example:
--Heavy Hanger
----Tramp -> Skipray (x4)
----Standard -> Espo
----Remove Z-95s (2x Squadrons)
----R-41 Starchaser x7
----Hornet x10
----Z-95 x1

You can't exceed: total length of default, total unit count of default.
So you can fit 29 B-Wings on a Bulk Cruiser.
This would be a good time to mention that I will be using Game Master Privilege to prevent unit spamming and abuse. Please don't fill up all your ships with B-Wings :) Lets respect the spirit of the game, not just look to exploit its weaknesses.
-
If you're going to maximize every meter and you're going to swap a lot, then yes it will be a PITA situation. :)

:P Well, I'm sure as hell not going to waste! I actually need to do the damage math and make sure I'm not actually disadvantaging myself by trying to swap to something better than a Z-95.

(I know this wasn't aimed at me.) I think my choices highlighted above are totally spirit of the Smugglers' Alliance... :D

Not aimed at Lordmaligan either. A few bUlk Cruisers loaded with BWs is fine. But if its apparent that every ship is maxed out with the most bad ass unit possible, and theres no variety, well, thats boring. I dont know. IF everyone else is indifferent, I wont stop it. But me personally, I dont want to degenerate into the same 4 units battling for every side...

Yeah, didn't mean to imply it was aimed at anyone.
As far as limiting it... Nah, I'm with you. We're here for story, afterall.

Makes sense to me. Appreciate need for equity and reality. Defer to your judgement
-
I think we need to half the cost of orbital dock III
Or maybe I am mistaken

All prices determined by same equation!
-
I thought the same thing at first but the OSD III is not supposed to be a Golan, it is supposed to be a space dock that can construct ships up to 4K and the only reason to build two would be to make an SSD.
-
good point... i thought the formula skipped that one .... but yea look at the specs makes sense
-
Seems like a dumb question:
What produces AUX? I think SF facilities make sense but wanted to confirm.

I thought we were simming? :D

Boom!
Also another question (Sorry, I am full of them), When building a neutral ship say a Venator SD, it says default to your faction Fighters, Troops, GAV etc. Does that mean it defaults all to five squads of TIE Fighters or would i.e. be 3 TF to replace the Z95 and 2 Bombers to replace the R-41? Want to make sure my calculations are right. Also can we decide to keep the original neutral tech as opposed to it being all IMP or Rebel right away?
-

This is actually a dilemma thats on my mind at the moment. I think what I will end up doing is making neutral tech = X length of fighters, X length of GAV, etc...

Okay - I've removed the 'default/base' bit from specs for fighters.
From now on, all common tech comes with common tech listed for onboard units - you can swap them as you like if you pay the difference and follow the rules governing. Sorry for previous confusion.

Correct will clarify in the specs for SF Plant
